Design Review for Local Historic Districts - Historic Preservation

An owner of property with a Local Historic Designation must submit a Certificate of Appropriateness or COA application before making any exterior changes, new construction, demolition or structure moves. The reason for this application process is to assure that the property or district maintains its historic atmosphere.  The Board's decisions are based on a set of Design Guidelines which are based on national standards.

Applications for new construction, a move or demolition must be approved by the Board at their regulary scheduled monthly meeting and carry a $75 application fee.  All other applications are approved by staff and there is no associated fee.   These applications generally can be approved between 1 and 5 days after receipt.
